Description: Vintage antique early 1900’s (1908-10) beautiful Hammond model number 12 typewriter with oak case. The serial number is 141847 dating it in the 1908 to 1910 era. Approximately 115 years old and looks great with no surface rust. The typewriter is in beautiful cosmetic clean condition with the ivory cover with the Hammond graphic. Excellent graphics. Chrome and plating are very nice. Space bar works and in great condition. Very nice aged black keyboard in great condition. The keys strike and return and carriage advances as you type and the turret moves as it should. Not sure the ribbon is installed correctly. You can see this in the typing example provided. Short ribbon to show typing. The hammer consistently strikes. The figure and caps keys engage and seem to be working. The shuttle consistently rotates when a key strikes. Back space does engage. The original platen and feed roller cracked but do move and paper feeds very well. All other levers and functions seem to work, line feed, carriage return, platen disengage for paper adjustments, etc. Original spools, covers but the cap nuts are missing. One shuttle is included, (elite) impression strip and very worn shuttle shield. Not sure if it is the correct one. I removed the shuttle shield to show the typing example. Check out photos. The figure and cap function engage and adjust the shuttle wheel up and down. The case is in good solid condition with a couple aging splits in the veneer and a repair to the right front corner. Pictures attempt to show. The case latches work and the bottom cover has been replaced to prevent scratches to surfaces, Excellent piece of art for display or in the right hands completely tweeked for original use. The typewriter measures 14” x 14 1/2” x 7 3/4” and the case measures 14x 14 1/2” x 8”. Exceptionally nice piece. The case and typewriter will be carefully packaged for safety. No PO Boxes.
