Description: This is one of Kalevala Koru's earliest designs, listed in their original catalog as number 8. It is based on a brooch found at an archeological site in Tuukkula in southeastern Finland and dated to the late 12th or early 13th century. It probably would have been worn by a woman who was the head of an prominent household. The pendant has a delicate four-way pattern of curved lines which enclose shapes that look like budding branches, with a raised cord pattern around the edge and a large bale which can easily admit a chain or cord. It measures approximately 1.75 inches across and the bale is a quarter-inch in diameter. It is marked "kk" and "Made in Finland". My guess is that it was made in the 1980's. The bronze is very shiny and almost looks like rose gold. (It's so hard to get the color to come across in pictures!) Ships to U.S. only.
