Vintage Scholastic Dr. Seuss What Was I Scared Of? Hardcover 1997 Nice Cute!

Description: This vintage Dr. Seuss mini hardcover is in very good condition! It does have 2 small .375" tears (one at the bottom of a page and one at the top) that I mended with transparent tape. Other than that, the book is in great shape! I used this book in my kindergarten classroom, around Halloween, and my students loved it! This splendidly silly story about a narrator terrorized by an empty pair of pants (which happens to be equally terrified of the narrator) delivers a timeless message about fear and tolerance. Children will learn that things might be just as scared of you as you are of them! This item is clean and comes from a smoke free home. These cute little book measures 5.25" x 5.75" and is a little Seussian gem. It was both written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss. The book has a copyright date of 1997 and the publisher is Scholastic. This story was first published as part of "The Sneetches and Other Stories" collection, but it shines on its own. The book has a sewn binding and a "This book belongs to" page in the front, where children can print their names and take ownership of the book. This book was one of the last Dr. Seuss books to come out. "What Was I Scared Of?" is a very special, spooky story from Dr. Seuss. The main character is deep within the woods when he spies a pair of pale green pants with nobody inside of them! He has no idea what they are doing there and certainly doesn't want to find out! But, no matter what he is doing, he seems destined to be haunted and followed by the creepy empty pants. Finally, the frightened narrator of the story and the pants find themselves hiding from each other in a Snide bush and discover that they have nothing to fear. This is a really great story about not judging or being afraid because of appearance. Children will squirm with delight when they see the empty green trousers standing by themselves in the woods, despite the lack of a wearer! They will laugh when the pants are seen riding a bike and fishing in the river! Children will feel compassion for the pants when the narrator screams for help and makes them cry. And, they will love that the narrator and empty pants become friends at the end of the story. As a former educator, I purchased many Dr. Seuss books during my teaching career. Adults and children both love them! I would highly recommend them to both teachers and parents. This book would make a wonderful addition to a Dr. Seuss enthusiast's collection! I am hoping to find it a good home.
