Description: For sale here is a vintage school teaching model of SAFFRON MILKCAP MUSHROOM (Lactarius deliciosus)Made in the Czech Republic in the 1960's/70's We have been lucky enough recently to meet a dealer in Prague who clears schools and colleges for a living, so we have been fortunate enough to buy several sets of these fantastic mushrooms from him we have multiples of some models but we want to clarify that these are genuine vintage 1960's teaching aids and not reproductions. In the 1950's and 60's when the Czech republic was still under Russian rule, food was scarce and so all children were taught about foraging in school, these models were used to aid in their education.These fine mushrooms are on a wooden base with dried moss. This is Lactarius deliciosus also known as the saffron milkcap or possibly Lactarius torminosus (woolly milkcap) both are very similar looking and without a label it is difficult to accurately identify. It is edible and widely eaten. SIZEHeight: 11cmWidth: 14cm CONDITIONMade from latex and mounted on a wooden stand covered with dried moss, the condition is excellent. No longer used in schools, they now make wonderful decorative items.Obviously this item is not new, it has been used in classrooms so there may be some light cosmetic wear, I have tried to photograph any wear I could see such a flaking paint, cracks or chips so please do check all photos carefully.
