Description: Vintage Starburst Wall Clock Mid Century Modern MCM Refurbished 22 inch diameter Metal frame with 12 solid wood rays alternating with "atomic" styled ball and rod elements. Stylized clock dial marked "Welby" "8-day" and updated with a brand new Takane Quartz movement Tested and working. 22 inches diameter tip-to-tip. Takes 1 AA battery - not included Has been completely disassembled and cleaned before reassembly and photography. Wood rays hand rubbed with teak oil. This clock was fitted (November 2024) with a new, USA-manufactured TAKANE Quartz movement. I used the top of the line Takane with an off-on switch and thumb dial for setting the clock's delicate hands without needing to touch them. The new movement runs silently on a single AA battery (not included due to shipping regulations). You can only hear the movement operating by holding your ear next to it. The clock has been thoroughly tested and is in working order, keeps accurate time. Condition notes: This is a vintage clock that has been converted to a new Quartz movement. The metal frame and elements show light toning from exposure and time. Dial was originally designed for a key-wind 8-day movement and has a couple of light scuffs.. Hanging aperture is on the reverse of the round clock frame as shown in the reverse-side views. I photographed this clock out of doors on the shaded garage door on a brilliantly sunny fall day - the environment accounts for the reflections in the brass-tone metal. Shipping details: I am experienced with more than 10 years of stabilizing and packing vintage starburst clocks for safe transit. This clock will ship disassembled (wood rays removed and packaged protectively with the clock frame) and stabilized within a sturdy shipping box. Disassembly means a smaller shipping box and savings on shipping. Putting the wood rays back on is very simple, and will take only a minute or two to do -- no tools are required.The wooden rays mount on the metal hub just by slipping them over ishort metal spokes (one for each wood ray) - the spokes fit into an aperture in the wood rays at their widest point. I generally need a bit longer handling time to build the custom-made inner stabilization package for such clocks, and generally ship on or within 4 days.
