Description: Vintage Yanomami Gathering Basket. Amazon River Basin, Brazil. Handmade. This beautiful and tightly woven Vintage gathering basket is made by indigenous Yanomami natives who live in seclusion in the rain forests of Brazil and Venezuela. The Yonamami women weave and decorate baskets in geometric patterns using masticated charcoal pigment. Perfect for wall or table display. Measurements: 15 in. Diameter x 5 in Tall. The basket is uniquely hand-made of natural fibers and has a three level ring around the circumference. The interior has a bit of fraying, but whether it’s intentional as artful detail, or from use, I’m not quite sure. The exterior is in flawless condition, the weave tight and secure. The bottom is decorated with a cross “X” detail, hand stained in charcoal black. The “X” detail is also lightly seen on the interior as well. Available for local pickup in Los Angeles, if desired. Second basket of same size with interior ring design/ bottom 6 spoke wave design is available as well.
