Description: Vintage ZAKOPANE Hand Carved Wood Eagle Walking Stick/CanePoland Folk Art Size 34.5" in height [including metal tip]. Eagle head is 7.25" long Hand carved wood is hand stained in a rich brown tone. The carving is extremely intricate and done in a traditional Polish Folk Art style known as Zakopane, famous in a particular region. Carving is done on both sides, but there is no carving on the inside of the cane at the top below the eagle head, meaning this would probably be a custom-made piece for a right handed person. When held in the right hand, the full carvings are visible down the cane. Very lovely detail. There are even some swirled, more shallow carvings at the base just above the metal tip, on each side Base of the stick has a securely attached metal base with a softly squared smaller tip. Not sharp or dangerous. Tip has some sort of Polish symbol embossed into it. Marvelous likeness of an Eagle, looking very fierce. Excellent condition, NO DAMAGE- no scratches, chips, nicks, cracks, fading. Solid and light weight hardwood. No breaks or repairs. See all pics and use zoom. A completely unique sculpture- would look great on display or of course is perfectly usable.
