It was woven in Nimes, france and came to be known as Toile de Nimes , or fabric of Nimes ; Denim! )A lovely antique / vintage French ticking fabric dating to circa 1870~ Wonderfully aged French fabric ~ ! FABULOUS dark blue , wonderful off white aged and BEAUTIFUL ground ~ Wonderfully rustic fabric that used to be a mattress stuffed with feathers that has since been opened up and feathers let out! ~*~ ( some lingerers still inside) . There is a lovely patchand a panel of a slightly different ticking on the side. This was once like a large sack ,but one side was openened out, so once both sides are open, it will be about 7 feet long of fabric by 48 inches wide!!! ~ . Ideal for primitive and rustic cutting projects~*~ ~*~ Durable and beautiful ~*~ Ideal for pillows, upholstery projects, etc! This piece is a heavy weight cotton, with gentle twill weave and wonderful faded indigo blue. Today this wonderful fabric is used for all kinds of small upholstery projects, pillows etc! A classic French fabric. This fabric is as genuine as they get, with a beautiful aged tone~~*~ ideal for pillows, upholstery etc ~*~ The name "denim" derives from French fabric de Nîmes, an area of France producing these wonderful heavy ticking fabrics ~ Measurements : This fabric measures approximately ( once the seams are opened out!! ) 48 inches wide by 83 inches long. CONDITION: This fabric is in as found, unwashed condition. ~ This piece has all of the rustic charm! Patched and pieced!! It needs to be cleaned, so you can open it up and machine wash and tumble dry , or you can take it to the cleaners! ~*~ ( unwashed condition reflected in the price) Please expect little feathers when opening your parcel as this was once filled with feathers and some are still clinging to the back! ~*~ There are some pale marks etc! TOTALY worth the time to wash! :). A gorgeous textile, getting much much more difficult to find these days!! ~*~ Ticking 8900
