Description: Wonderful antique/vintage large sterling silver and hand-carved mother of pearl cameo brooch. This lovely brooch is 1 7/8” long by 1 3/8” wide and weighs 13.2 grams. It features a beautiful woman in profile carved in fine, white mother of pearl with golden-brown detail in her hair. This type of carving in mother of pearl is very difficult, especially considering that the shell was carved in such a way as to incorporate the different colors found in the shell into the design. This artisan was obviously quite skilled. The design is quite elegant with lots of dimensional attention given to her hair in a flowing art nouveau type design. The lady’s face is sweet and finely drawn. This cameo is bezel set in solid sterling silver and it is stamped “Sterling” on the back, as shown in my photos. The pin fastener is sturdy, works perfectly and holds firmly. The silver setting has also been professionally tested as sterling silver. This cameo is in good antique/vintage condition with no damage other than minor surface wear and/or oxidation. ***PLEASE NOTE: Any display items pictured are NOT included.*** I request payment within two days of purchase and will ship within two days of payment via USPS First Class mail.
