Description: Original WW2 British War Office map from the "RUSSIA" series covering an area that includes parts of modern day UKRAINE, POLAND, ROMANIA, SLOVAKIA, SERBIA and HUNGARY. "NOT TO BE PUBLISHED". Featured cities include KRAKOW, LWOW, DEBRECEN, BELGRADE, CLUJ, SATUL MARE etc Printed in April 1944. Bears the official ink stamp of the "Survey Directorate, GHQ Middle East". From a large collection recently sold off by Edinburgh University - hence their own ink stamping to margin. (Following both World Wars, the government distributed excess stocks of Allied maps, along with captured enemy examples, to various national institutions such as libraries, museums, universities etc.) In good condition.
