Description: Agave ghiesbreghtii 'Purpusorum' Rare Succulent The agave pictured in photos 1-7 is the exact plant that you will receive. The last two photos are of a larger specimen that I recently relocated to an in-ground location. This extra-large-size agave for sale is currently approximately 16in. in a three-gallon container. Ships bare root, no pot, no soil. Please understand that this agave is quite large and heavy and shipping costs will reflect its current size. My plants are meticulously cared for and you can see more of my agaves and dry garden on my IG page @mr_agave This agave prefers full sun to partial shade. It's a moderately slow-grower and is an easy agave to care for. It'll grow much faster in-ground than in a container however, it's an ideal specimen for both. This particular agave does not produce offsets (pups) or at least that's what I have experienced as well as other growers who I've asked. It's located in Zone 9b and has been grown in a greenhouse under 40% shade cloth. Please note that you need to gradually acclimate your new agave to your growing conditions. Agaves prefer well-drained, coarse succulent soil. For example, I use a mix of 50% 1/4in. lava or pumice mixed with equal parts organics (potting soil) and DG (decomposed granite) or coarse sand. Watering frequency depends upon your regional weather, sun exposure, soil and drainage. Do not over-water, especially in-ground. When it's time to water, water in the evening and especially after an extended period of extremely high temps, 95+ degrees. In-ground agaves require little to no water in the winter months when they're mostly dormant. Over-watering will rot the plant. Do not plant mid-summer when temps are too high. I typically plant in-ground in the fall and spring months. This agave is a medium size succulent. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. CONUS shipping only. I'm a small business owner and agaves are a hobby of mine so with that, I'm unable to accept returns. Open package immediately upon arrival. When I receive a new agave, I like to let the roots soak in a bowl of water for 1-2 days ensuring the leaves are above the water line. Please note that agaves have very soft leaves and breakage during shipping is very common. Agaves will quickly recover and grow new leaves so long as you properly care for your new plant. For reference, my favorite Agave books are, Agaves: Species, Cultivars & Hybrids by Jermey Spath of Hidden Agave & Jeff Moore. Also, Agaves: Living Sculptures for Landscapes and Containers by Greg Starr. For pests: I use a spray bottle and a mix of 500ml (2 cups) of water, 1 tsp Neem Oil, 250ml (1 cup) of 70% rubbing alcohol, 10 drops liquid soap. I've never had any problems applying this ratio on my agaves. Mealy bugs can be pretty devastating to an agave greenhouse so I have to inspect them daily.
