Printed by the American Lithographic Company Color lithographic poster on smooth cream wove paper. Limited seams from folding; some wrinkles on edges. 30" x 40" (untrimmed with full margins). Mounted on poster board and protected with plastic, but easy to remove for framing. Poster is in excellent condition; no rips, tears, or missing pieces. This famous poster features a central female figure in full-length wearing work cap and coveralls, with the inverted triangle logo of the YWCA behind her. She holds an artillery shell in one hand and a biplane in the other. Issued by the Young Women's Christian Association to promote their United War Work Campaign (UWWC), the poster demonstrates the significance of the female workforce during the war effort. The slogan "For Every Fighter A Woman Worker" was used in a variety of posters and campaigns during 1918. The UWWC combined the forces of the YWCA,YMCA, American Library Association, Knights of Columbus, Jewish Welfare Board, Catholic Welfare Council and the Salvation Army to raise money to support first the war effort and then troops and their families after the Armistice in1918.
